*[Blog Tour Review/Spotlight] Anything But Sweet by Candis Terry

Summary:

HE’S STUBBORN AND THOROUGHLY MALE . . .

If Charlotte Brooks thinks she and her TV makeover show can turn Reno Wilder’s hometown upside down, he’ll be happy to prove her wrong. The x-Marine has seen too much turmoil and he likes Sweet, Texas, just the way it is. Traditional. Familiar. A little dull. Everything Charli isn’t. But instead of backing off from his scowls like everyone else, Charli digs in her skyscraper heels.

SHE’S TENACIOUS AND WICKEDLY TEMPTING . . .

Reno Wilder is a one-man unwelcoming committee, but Charli isn’t budging. It’s clear the gorgeous cowboy needs an overhaul just as much as Sweet. Someone needs to break him out of that gruff shell and show him how fun and rewarding a little change can be.

THEY’RE ABOUT TO FIND THAT LOVE IS ANYTHING BUT PREDICTABLE.

I'm always a fan of a good old small town romance so when I received the tour invite I knew this was one that I was going to enjoy. Especially since it had such a cute cover and summary.

Anything But Sweet turned out to be even more sweet and enjoyable than I expected it to be. I knew I would like it but the characters and the story in this one really stuck with me. Candis Terry was able to write a really sweet small town romance with good characters and a good plot without the novel being too cheesy, sweet or dated as some small town romances can be even I they are set in the 2000s.

Reno and Charlotte were so good together I just loved them as a couple. I also really liked the fact that they were willing to work through things and fight for each other when they needed too. The fact that they actually had to work at being together made them very realistic and I thought that was refreshing. Sometimes couples in romance just seem too outrageous and hard to really root for but I was rooting for these two the whole time even when Reno was a big jerk and Charlotte was just plain sweet it was hard not to like her.

The plot of the book was good as well. I liked the whole makeover theme even if our hero in the story wasn't much of a fan of it but his heart was in the right place and so was Charlotte's. They both cared about the town a lot and that really came through.

Overall, I really enjoyed Anything But Sweet and I'm so glad that I've found a new author to enjoy who writes contemporary romance set in small towns. For almost the entire time I read the book I wore a smile and I had more than a few moments where I was giggling out loud.

I highly recommend giving Anything But Sweet a try if you're a fan of  sweet and funny small town contemporary romances this would be an excellent book to try out. The characters were realistic and the romance was genuine. This would be the perfect summer read to be tacked on to any summer reading list and I'm looking forward to reading another book by Candis Terry sometime soon.
