*[Book Blast & Giveaway] Keeper of Reign by Emma Right

keeper
  Keeper of Reign

Books written in blood. Most are lost, their Keepers with them. A curse that befell a people. A Kingdom with no King. Life couldn’t get more harrowing for the Elfies, a blend of Elves and Fairies. Or for sixteen-year-old Jules Blaze. Or could it? For Jules, the heir of a Keeper, no less, suspects his family hides a forgotten secret. It was bad enough that his people, the Elfies of Reign, triggered a curse which reduced the entire inhabitants to a mere inch centuries ago. All because of one Keeper who failed his purpose. Even the King’s Ancient Books, did not help ward off that anathema. Now, Gehzurolle, the evil lord, and his armies of Scorpents, seem bent on destroying Jules and his family. Why? Gehzurolle’s agents hunt for Jules as he journeys into enemy land to find the truth. Truth that could save him and his family, and possibly even reverse the age-long curse. Provided Jules doesn't get himself killed first.

Twenty-three-year-old fashion designer, Rose Calloway, has everything figured out. Well, except her boyfriend. Pretentious, gorgeous, smart-as-hell—Connor Cobalt wants to rule the world and that means collecting as many contacts as he can. But for Rose, “people-pleasing” is another word for “fake” and tensions begin to build the longer their relationship lasts.

With the stress of her struggling fashion line, Rose finds a solution in another guy. The only problem—he’s everything she dislikes in men. But he’s her last chance to save the failing company. Now she must use Connor’s “people-pleasing” tactics to impress a guy that rattles her nerves. Rose has confidence in herself, but she also knows her boyfriend thrives on competition. And Connor hates being runner-up. If he doesn’t bottle his pride, the cost could be her future career.

They want it all: wealth, love and success.

But when two ambitious individuals fight to be the best, someone is bound to come in second. After all, only one can kiss the sky.

Cat Thursday #13

Welcome to the weekly meme that celebrates the wonders and sometime hilarity of cats! Join us by posting a favorite LOL cat pic you may have come across, famous cat art or even share with us pics of your own beloved cat(s) and then link up at the host's site: The True Book Addict. It's all for the love of cats!

Here are my favourite cat pictures of the week:

Our cats don't really bother for food (we feed them at night time only) but they do interrupt our leisure for attention.

Totally our kitten Cloud in this picture. Who does happen to have an unnatural obsession with our toilet bowl (and people food).

Many a time I have stumbled upon a similar scene in my house lol :)

Title: Pulling Me Under
Author: Rebecca Berto
Series: Pulling Me Under #1
Age group: Adult
Genre: Women’s Fiction with crossover with Suspense
Publication date: October 2013

Paul was Katie’s rock for thirteen years, but then she watched him die.

By day, she is left with her daughter Ella’s questions about where Daddy went, and at night she's consumed with nightmares of the moment he died. It isn’t long before Katie’s mother hints that her volatile lifestyle and developing drinking habits are no way to raise a little girl.

Through it all, her and Paul’s best friend, Liam is there. Grieving the death of both husband and friend, the time they spend together seems more intimate these days, and Katie soon stumbles into taboo territory: Liam might be in love with her.

Torn between Liam’s feelings and losing Ella, one night Katie runs.

Air. Space. Thinking time. That's what she thinks she's getting when she stumbles upon that party. In the morning, in a strange bed, she can’t remember the night before.

Pulling Me Under is raw in its brutality of love and pain, with slow-building suspense to a heart-stopping conclusion.

About the Author

Rebecca Berto is an Amazon bestselling author. She is also a freelance editor.
She writes stories that are full of heart. She gets a thrill when her readers are emotional reading her stories, and gets even more of a kick when they tell her so. She’s strangely imaginative, spends too much time on her computer, and is certifiably crazy when she works on her fiction.
Rebecca Berto lives in Melbourne, Australia with her boyfriend and their doggy.

Waiting on Wednesday #77

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine and is where we can talk about books we are looking forward to being released!

Here are my picks for the week:

Dangerous Curves Ahead (Perfect Fit, #1)

Summary:

DANGEROUS CURVES AHEAD
Ellis Garrett is dumping her critical boyfriend, opening a plus-size clothing store, and starting a blog—all to spread the word that fashion shouldn’t require a size-two body, and happiness should allow for the occasional cupcake. Or two. But is indulging fantasies about her sister’s long-ago ex, the still-hunky Michael Edwards, biting off more than she can chew?

Mike must be losing his detective’s touch. He doesn’t recognize Ellis when he bumps into her at Size Me Up, and he certainly doesn’t remember his ex-girlfriend’s outspoken sister being so irresistible. Her curves are indeed dangerous—and so is her wit. Could it be that Ellis is his Perfect Fit? One thing’s for sure: Mike will make it his sworn duty to find out…

Why I'm Waiting:

I don't know about you but I love a plus sized heroine. I think plus size women in novels are something we need to see more of so when I discovered this first novel in the series was being released it immediately went on my tbr pile. Thankfully I don't have long to wait to pick it up.

My Favorite Mistake (My Favorite Mistake, #1)

Summary:

Two secrets. One bet. Who will break first?

Taylor Caldwell can't decide if she wants to kiss her new college roommate or punch him.

On the one hand, Hunter Zaccadelli is a handsome blue-eyed bundle of charm. On the other, he's a tattooed, guitar-playing bad boy. Maybe that's why Taylor's afraid of falling in love with him, or anyone else. She doesn't want to get burned, so she needs him gone before it's too late.

Hunter himself has been burned before, but Taylor's sexy laugh and refusal to let him get away with anything make her irresistible. Determined not to be kicked out of her life without a fight, Hunter proposes a bet: if she can convince him she either truly loves or hates him, he'll leave the apartment;and leave her alone.

But when the man behind Taylor's fear of giving up her heart resurfaces, she has to decide: trust Hunter with her greatest secret, or do everything in her power to win that bet and drive him away forever.

The Wet Nurse's Tale

Summary:

Bright and clever with a sharp-tongued, adventurous heroine who offers a candid and often funny look at the business of nursing babies in Victorian England, this is a debut novel that will have everyone talking.

Susan Rose isn't the average protagonist: she's scheming, promiscuous, plump, and she is also smart, funny, tender, and entirely lovable. Like many lower-class women of Victorian England, she was born into a world that offered very few opportunities for the poor and unlovely. But Susan is the kind of plucky heroine who seeks her fortune, and finds it . . . with some help from, well, her breasts. Susan, you see, is a professional wet nurse; she breast-feeds the children of wealthy women who can't or won't nurse their own babies.

But when her own child is sold by her father and sent to a London lady who had recently lost a baby, Susan manages to convince his new foster mother, Mrs. Norbert, to hire her as a wet nurse. Once reunited with her son, Susan discovers the Norbert home to be a much more sinister place than she'd ever expected. Dark and full of secrets, its master is in India, and the first baby who died there did so under very mysterious circumstances. Susan embarks on a terrifying journey to rescue her son before he meets the same fate.

Top Ten Tuesday #37

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Top Ten Things That Help Me Be A Better Blogger & Reader:

1. Mr. Turing the Pages

The man puts up with my reading addiction so well I just love him to pieces. He finances a lot of my giveaways, reads my blog posts, comments, and is always up for me talking about the book I'm reading. However he is slightly less inclined when it comes to Jaime Fraser from Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. For some reason he isn't a fan of me having a book husband. He faithfully lugs my library books and my bookstore hauls to and from home on a thrice weekly basis and I love him for it. Without him there would be no Turning the Pages and my personal library would be a lot smaller. He is simply amazing and I definitely think he is my biggest asset as a reader and blogger because he's always available for me to talk. Plus having him read what I write makes me want to be a better blogger than ever.
So Babe,
Thank you for all you do. You're wonderful.

2. The Toronto Public Library

I got my first library card at 3 years old and still have it though I can't borrow books on it anymore. I remember the day I got it, I was with my dad and I really have him and my mom  to thank for starting me off as a reader. Without the library I think I would be a very close minded individual.

“Shhh, and let me finish my diagnosis,” he says.

My cheeks grow hot.

“You’re flushed,” he nods and tries to suppress a growing smile. He puts his hands on my shoulders and leans my head back against the pillow, kneeling and towering over me. “I have to listen to your heart.”

“No,” I retort weakly, not in the mood to play with him. Not when it always has to end with me tense and aroused and needy. He loves to tease me, and I worry about the day where I won’t have the strength to say no.

He ignores me and places his ear to the bareness of my collarbone, the place peeking from my V-neck shirt. I inhale a sharp breath, his face too near. After a long moment, he rises a little and says, “I knew it.”

My eyes narrow. “Knew what?”

His hot gaze traces my lips, and then flits back up to my eyes. “You’re suffering from a clear case of...” His mouth brushes my ear. “…infatuation.”
