Throwback Thursday: Historical Romance Edition #2

Happy Thursday, everyone! And welcome to a new feature on Buried Under Romance and Love Saves the World.

What is Throwback Thursday?

Traditionally, Throwback Thursday celebrates nostalgia, asking participants to post a personal photo or an image from their past -- usually from 5 to 10 years ago. There are a lot of book blogs that also do a book-related Throwback Thursday.

The Historical Romance Edition:

Since Tin of Love Saves the World and Mary from Buried Under Romance  are unapologetic lovers of historical romances, we've decided to focus on our beloved genre.

The Rules:

1. It must be posted on a Thursday.
2. It must be a historical romance novel published before October 3rd 2008.

This Week I'm Featuring:

A Memory of Love

Summary:

A tale of stunning passion, reckless danger, and the fierce will of a remarkable woman who can wield a sword as powerfully as any man–and who dares to fight for her most uninhibited desires. . . . Spirited, iron-willed Rhonwyn is the bastard child of the Prince of Wales, raised more boy than girl, able to ride and fight with the best. Against her wishes, she is married off to an English lord, Edward de Beaumont, who is stunned to discover that his lovely gilt-haired bride is a fiery wildcat with a mind of her own. Slowly, he wins her trust and her heart, and she accompanies him on the Crusades to North Africa. But when Edward falls ill, Rhonwyn boldly leads his troops, only to become a captive of the sensual Emir of Cinnebar, a man who will teach her the ways of erotic love–passions that will be put to the test when she returns to England to battle once more . . . this time for the man who rules her heart.

Why I Featured This Book:

I remember reading this one when I was 16 and throwing it at the wall it made me so angry. The men in the story were infuriating but Rhonwyn was great. She had a temper and was stubborn and I liked that a lot about her and I enjoyed that the author was able to make me feel so strongly for the book.

  2. I have read some of her books before and enjoyed them. But I don't think I have heard of this one. The cover isn't my favorite either and I do like older romance novel covers, but this one is a bit weird. I do love a strong heroine though.

  3. I've never read a Beatrice Small, mostly because I've heard similar things about her heroes from others. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Yeah, sometimes her heroes can be a bit much but the heroines seem to make up for that at least in my case they do. Thanks for stopping by Jennifer.

  4. Bertrice Small is an amazing author! I've read her older books and I remember one where the heroine faints after doing the deed. =^_^=

I love this phrase from the blurb: "erotic love–passions" -- that definitely sells this book for me. ^_^
