Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine and is where we can talk about books we are looking forward to being released.
Summary:
Bryn Aven is an outcast among the Kanin, the most powerful of the troll tribes. Set apart by her heritage and her past, Brynn is a tracker who's determined to become a respected part of her world. She has just one goal: become a member of the elite King’s Guard to protect the royalty. She's not going to let anything stand in her way, not even a forbidden romance with her boss Ridley Dresden. But all her plans for the future are put on hold when Konstantin– a fallen hero who she once loved – appears to be up to something dangerous, kidnapping changelings. Bryn is sent in to help stop him, but will she lose her heart in the process?

Why I'm Waiting:
I've been meaning to try Hocking's books for a few years now and this new series appeals to me the most.
Summary:
Rhiannon Thomas's dazzling debut novel is a spellbinding reimagining of what happens after happily ever after.
One hundred years after falling asleep, Princess Aurora wakes up to the kiss of a handsome prince and a broken kingdom that has been dreaming of her return. All the books say that she should be living happily ever after. But as Aurora understands all too well, the truth is nothing like the fairy tale.
Her family is long dead. Her "true love" is a kind stranger. And her whole life has been planned out by political foes while she slept.
As Aurora struggles to make sense of her new world, she begins to fear that the curse has left its mark on her, a fiery and dangerous thing that might be as wicked as the witch who once ensnared her. With her wedding day drawing near, Aurora must make the ultimate decision on how to save her kingdom: marry the prince or run.
Rhiannon Thomas weaves together vivid scenes of action, romance, and gorgeous gowns to reveal a richly imagined world…and Sleeping Beauty as she’s never been seen before.

Why I'm Waiting:
I love a good retelling especially one about Sleeping Beauty.
What are you waiting on?
Both picks look amazing. Great choices and I hope you enjoy them. :)
ReplyDeleteI just picked A Wicked Thing as my WoW pick for this week as well!~ I love retellings and I haven't read a lot about Sleeping Beauty, so it's definitely on my list of books I need to read next year. Great pick!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Wow post!
I LOVED The Trylle Trilogy by Amanda Hocking! Highly recommend you check it out since this is a spin-off series! Love her books!
ReplyDeleteMy WOW
I can't wait for Frostfire too! Amanda Hocking was the first self-published author I ever read a book by an I can't wait for this one :D
ReplyDeleteMy WoW
I love the cover of Frostfire. I haven't tried any of Amanda Hocking's books yet either. I can't wait to read A Wicked Thing. I love fairy tale retellings. Did you read While Beauty Slept by Elizabeth Blackwell? That was an interesting take on Sleeping Beauty from the eyes of a servant.
ReplyDeleteAwesome picks! Both look great :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday!

Frostfire has an interesting cover and sounds like something that I would enjoy. Fairytale retellings are very popular and A Wicked Thing sounds amazing. Excellent WOW picks.

Gorgeous covers on both books this week! I hadn't realized that A Wicked Thing was a Sleeping Beauty retelling. I'll have to look for it!
ReplyDeleteBeen meaning to read the Trylle (I think it's what it's called, right?) series for ages, haha, but haven't gotten around to it. A sleeping beauty retelling? Yay! Okay, I'm not that into retellings, but I'm always up for one, since they're usually fun, and sounds like a good twist on it too. :)
ReplyDeleteHere's mine
Kirsty @ StudioReads
I haven't heard of either of your WOWs, Kimberly, but I've been meaning to read a Hocking book, too. Maybe I'll start with this one :)

ReplyDeleteNemo @ Blame it on the Book
I'm very curious about both of these - I've heard good things about Hocking's books, and Thomas' book sounds great (I'm always a fan of retellings)!
ReplyDeleteGreat WOW :)
I think I got an e-galley of Frost Fire. I've enjoyed Hocking's other books, so this one sounds good too!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my WOW
I've seen both of these around alot of blogs recently. The covers are gorgeous. I love the sound of A Wicked Thing. I like the idea that the happily ever after isn't always so happy. That one is on my TBR list :) Here is my WOW for this week - some more stories from The Selection series! http://www.ablondelibrarian.blogspot.co.uk/2014/08/waiting-on-wednesday-2.html
ReplyDeleteAdded the first book to my TBR list. Sounds hella good.
