I've been a bad blogger again, sometime last year Susan Carlisle was kind enough to send me The Nurse He Shouldn't Notice and before I got a chance to read and review it, it accidentally got packed up and put in storage. However, just before I went away on vacation recently I found the box it was in and took it with me.

I really loved The Nurse He Shouldn't Notice, I'm a fan of the Harlequin Medical Romance line and I'm always saying that there should be more romance novels set in Africa so this one was a rare treat for me and one I really enjoyed reading.

Nurse Maggie has abandoned her life in America and is set on making a new one in Ghana where she sees a true need for medical professionals, and where she's become an essential member on the hospital staff as well as friend to many of her patients. I loved Maggie's character. I thought she was a real firecracker. She's a woman who knows what she wants, and how she wants it but she's so kind and gentle with the people under her care I just couldn't help but love her. She's so passionate about her job that she's willing to fight to get people the help they so desperately need.

Court Armstrong, along with Maggie is dealing with his on personal demons that lead him to Ghana, however his stay is only temporary whereas the tenacious and curvy Maggie is set to stay. I wasn't so sure about Court for the first bit of the novel but he slowly grew on me, especially after I learned why he was the way he was. Though I did think he was a fool for not realizing how he felt about Maggie sooner than he did.

Overall, I loved the romance between the two of them. Both are passionate, kind and caring but mostly I enjoyed how real their romance seemed to me. I haven't been big on contemporary romance novels in years but I truly enjoyed this sweet realistic tale of love, and having to put certain things aside and buck up to get the things you want in life. Susan Carlisle's writing style was easy to read and flowed effortlessly and I can't wait to read her other novels as she's a lovely author to curl up with and I'm looking forward to reading her other romance novels soon.

I would recommend this novel to fans of contemporary romance novels especially those taking place in unique settings. Fans of Harlequin Medical romances will really enjoy this book and I highly recommend reading it on a rainy afternoon with a hot beverage and a cat (or dog) curled up with you.
