The Sunday Post #45

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead
Hey Folks!
Another crazy busy week here and once again I didn't get around to doing any reviews. I feel bad about it but I'm not going to force myself. December is a hectic enough month as it is. However I did set up a new reading challenge for 2014 (click the button below for more information)

As well as making a new blog button which, if you have my old blog button on your blog somewhere I would appreciate it if you could replace it with the current one (below):

That being said, this week was also one of great sadness.
Nelson Mandela, passed away at 95 and I was greatly saddened by the news of his death. Growing up he has always been my hero but I'm glad that after a year of sickness, that he has his chance to rest now after so many years of not only serving South Africa, but the world. I fear we'll never see anyone like him again but he has left such a monumental legacy behind it is my greatest hope that people will take matters into their own hands and endeavor to make the world a better place. What I loved most about the man that I never knew beyond movies, books, articles was that he was willing to say that he was not perfect, and in looking back realized he could have changed how he did things. Many people are not willing to admit mistakes but he did and I think that is extremely important to remember.

The world is mourning his loss, his fellow countrymen are mourning but my heart goes out who new the man behind this scenes, his family and friends and I thank them for the sacrifices as well. He was an inspiration to millions and I thank his family for sharing him with the world.

  1. Great haul, Kimberly. And you are tempting me with the Georgette Heyer challenge I haven't signed up for any 2014 challenges yet -- I feel as though I overdid it last year, so I'm contemplating a few at the moment -- yours included.

    1. Thanks for stopping by Catherine, I'd love it if you signed up :) I created it since I find other bloggers are great motivators. I over did it on challenges last year too.

  7. What a lovely tribute to Nelson Mandela! We have indeed lost a true statesman and a great man.

Have fun with your Georgette Heyer challenge. It's tempting, but I'm trying to keep challenges to a minimum right now unless they help clear my current ARC and TBR backlog! ;-)

    1. I'm in the same boat as you Lark. But I bought 15 GH novels a couple years ago so I figure what better way to clear them out then do a challenge :)
