Top Ten Tuesday #103

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Top Ten Books That Have Been On My TBR the Longest and I Still Haven’t Read:

These books have all been sitting on my Goodreads TBR pile since the day I joined in August 2008!

Brisingr (The Inheritance Cycle, #3)Anna KareninaThe Phantom of the Opera
Shakespeare's SonnetsUnmasqued: An Erotic Novel of The Phantom of The Opera (Seducing the Classics, #1)Phantom
TimelineThe Catcher in the RyeRaise the Titanic! (Dirk Pitt, #4)
A Promise for Ellie (Daughters of Blessing, #1)

As you can probably tell I've always been an eclectic reader and that I may or may not have had a wee obsession with The Phantom of The Opera due to the 2004 movie staring Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum. It's crazy to think how much more my reading tastes have changed since I was 18. Clive Cussler is still one of my favourite authors (have always loved a good adventure novel!), but am not so much feeling the Christian historical romances by Lauraine Snelling anymore. However I think it would be fun to read these just to get them off of my list, so I think that's my plan for the year.

  1. I enjoyed The Phantom Of The Opera but I found the musical/film much more enjoyable!

  2. Hmm Timeline, I think I saw the movie of that one but I've only read one crichton book (Jurassic Park). I should read more.

  3. Oooh Anna Karenina. I tried reading War and Peace last year and kind of failed. I think I'll have to start with something smaller of Tolstoy's rather than diving into his big work. Have been thinking about Anna Karenina instead.

Why did I not know Phantom of the Opera was a book?

  7. I haven’t read any of these. I for sure need to read catcher in the rye. I am slowly getting through classics.

  8. Catcher in the Rye is one that I've always said "I should read that one day..." but have yet to do so. But, I've never officially added it to my TBR either, so I must not be too interested. I always consider it, however, in September when I'm selecting a book to read for Banned Books Week. Maybe one day.

  11. I have oodles of book 3 in YA trilogies series that I will probably never read. I have the Jim Butcher Dresden Files and so need to read them!

  12. There are so many books I need to read! Catcher in the Rye is one that calls me as is the series by Paolina. For some reason I've never actually considered reading the Phantom of the Opera. I think my head doesn't realize it's an actually a book!

  13. I can`t say that I loved "The Catcher in the Rye" as much as anyone else, I found Holden a bit of a prick. I was thinking about rereading it, but I`m afraid I`ll like it even less, now that I`m older.

  14. Isn't it funny to see those books that were on TBR from years ago? The change in reading tastes is interesting. I think mine is pretty much full of PNR or UF with some mysteries and thrillers thrown in. I wish I could get to them all!

  16. I know what you mean about your reading tastes changing. There are a bunch of things that have been on my TBR an extremely long time and they are no longer the types of things I like to read. Ah well! And The Phantom of the Opera is on my list this week as well!

  17. Oh, I've forgotten there was a Phantom of the Opera movie. I watched its Broadway production long ago with my mum and fell in love with it! I used to know the opening number, piano piece by heart.

  18. I've had Phantom of the Opera on my to-read list for ages! I suppose I'll get around to it eventually...

  19. Oh hey fellow person who hasn't finished Christopher Paolini's Inheritance cycle! I have yet to read the final book!

  22. The next time I read a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I mean, I know it was my choice to read, but I actually thought you have something interesting to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you could fix if you werent too busy looking for attention.

  30. Nice post. I learn something more challenging on different blogs everyday. It will always be stimulating to read content from other writers and practice a little something from their store. I’d prefer to use some with the content on my blog whether you don’t mind. Natually I’ll give you a link on your web blog. Thanks for sharing.

  35. I’m impressed, I must say. Really rarely do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the issue is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.
