Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!
This week's Top Ten List is: Top Ten books to read at the beach
1.
The Stephanie Plum Series by Janet Evanovich
These are the perfect beach reads because they're light, funny and addictive. I love this series and can't wait for Notorious Nineteen to be released on November 20th.
2.
The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency Series by Alexander McCall Smith
This is another favourite series of mine. They're light and comforting perfect for a day of fun in the sun.
3.
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
Yes it's a long book but it's a perfect beach read because you csn get lost in her writing. The whole series would make a great beach read for the true beach bums.
4.
Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne
A great read and one that I re-read annually. It's perfect for the beach because its full of adventure.
5.
The Lost World by Arthur Conan Doyle
For me this is a great book to read at the beach. I love being transported in Doyles works.
6.
Sound of the Heart by Genevieve Graham
Highlanders, love, war, and a strong spirit of adventure that's how I would sum this book up. I loved this historical romance novel written by a fellow Canadian. It`s light enough for a beach read but not so much so that it isn't serious too.
7.
Whatever You Do, Don't Run by Peter Allison
It is always nice to shake things up by adding some non-fiction to the mix and for me this would be a perfect beach read. It will have you laughing out loud at Peter`s (mis)adventures.
8.

This is another favourite series of mine and I always feel great after reading them.
9.
Atlantis Rising (Warriors of Poseidon #1) by Alyssa Day
Mythical warriors, a mythical civilization, romance and evil? Yep, that's Atlantis Rising in a nutshell. This book was great to read in the winter but it would be perfect on the beach!
10.
Angels' Blood by Nalini Singh
A great urban fantasy romance novel that will suck you in to the world of vampires and archangels. This book will suck you in and help you pass the time while working on that perfect tan.
Oh, I want to read the rest of the books in the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series, I remember really liking book 1 a few years back.
ReplyDeleteAND YES Stephanie Plum, she is the perfect heroine to spend a beach day with.
Great list!

ReplyDeleteGreat list! I've heard good things about the Plum series but haven't gotten around to it yet.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of the books on your list, shame on me! It's a great list, really like that you put Doyle on it!
ReplyDeleteOoh! I'm so excited to be on your list - AND alongside Outlander! *celebration time!!!* I'm going to add that Peter Alison book to my list, but first I'm going to read The Time Machine (HG Wells) because my next novel is a time travel romance - my first!
