Sunday Post #64

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer  It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Howdy Folks!

How was everyone's first 3 days of December?
No news on the job front, but I am going to be applying to a ton of postings this week. This past week was a crazy one. Last Sunday we ended up having to go up to the family cottage in Northern Ontario for the day to help my elderly father winterize the place for the winter. Then we had to drive back down. Then on Wednesday Mr. Turning the Pages's mom had her second knee replacement and she got home yesterday. She's in pain but doing well. Yesterday we also went to a library sale at one of the biggest branches of the library system and I was able to score a TON of books that were brand new and uncirculated to give as gifts. We also had a special guest on the blog this week on Thursday! Mr. Turning the Pages did a review which you can find linked below. Have a gander and let him know what you think. I think he'll be on the blog more often. Last week was a busy reading month. I read 20 books and I also did 34 blog posts. I'm hoping to do more of both this month.

Next week is going to be busy as well. I have a ton of crafting, cleaning and gift shopping to do and the 7th is the 2nd anniversary of losing my mother so it's a sad week too. However, later today we're taking out dog to the Toronto Humane Society (where we adopted him from in February) to have his pictures taken with Santa! We get three prints for $15 and the money goes back to the Humane Society which we're so happy about. So next week I'll be sure to post them!
I hope everyone has a lovely week.

P.S. Enjoy some cuteness! Alfie the grey hamster and Peeper my one eyed hamster (brown)

  1. Good luck on the job front - it's a difficult time to be looking as a lot of places close down here, but then again I guess others have some extra work.

It sounds like you're super busy at the moment as well!

  2. Wow, you have been busy. This time of year is hard for finding employment. Fingers-crossed for you. Glad his Mom is doing well, despite the pain. I feel for you on this anniversary week of losing your mother. I lost my father in Jan of 2016 and every first without him is so hard. The fact that my daughter named her son Clayton after him was the highlight of a very tough year.

    1. Thanks Kimberly, I'm so sorry about your father but I'm so happy that you have grandbaby Clayton to keep your spirits up! What a lovely way to remember him. The Mister and I have already decided to name our kid (if it's a girl) Jacqueline after my mom. Thank you for the well wishes on the job search, I can use all the luck I can get.

  11. Oh I just wanna give them tiny little squishy hugs. So cute! Not a bad month at all for you! That's awesome. Hope the mama's knee starts feeling better. My mom is looking like she'll have to do the same in the next few years.

    1. Thanks Anna! From what I hear...the mama is none to thrilled. However her herd babies are doing their very best to make her feel better (by demanding butt rubs).

  12. Wicked Intentions looks good, and My Grandfather Would Have Shot Me has been mentioned in a place or two online, and seems like a melancholy but intriguing book that I would read too! Congrats on the library haul and scoring on new books to give as gifts, yay!

We used to bring our dogs to see Santa and have their picture taken, but now they're elderly and don't do well on a leash and the last time my one dog went, let's say she had "bathroom issues" dealing with the stress of the crowds... and Santa's helper had to come 3x to clean up the floor, lol! Enjoy your week ahead!

(love your hamster pics-- we used to have a bunch of them, just not at same time-- they got into a big fight because they were 2 males).

    1. Poor doggy! They had about 60 dogs today while we were there and I was surprised there were no accidents. I think your dogs may just have reached that 'we're too old for this business stage' lol. Hamsters in general don't do well in pairs except one species (dwarf I believe) females will kill each other and so will males of the usual variety. These too have seperate cages. No hamster babies for me.

  13. It does sound like you've been busy! My idea of winterizing around here is making sure everyone has a warm coat and turning on the heat. LOL It doesn't get as cold here as it does in other parts of the world. I am glad your mother-in-law is doing well after her surgery. I hope she has a smooth recovery.

I am sorry about your mom. Time makes it a little easier, but one never really gets over the lose of a parent.

Love your cutie hamsters. :-) I hope you have a nice visit with Santa! My friend takes her dogs to see Santa every year and they come back with the cutest of photos.

Have a great week! Sending you a hug.

    1. Santa and the staff at the Humane Society were excellent! Thank you for stopping by. Winterizing for us at the cottage for Dad meant putting plastic sheets over the windows on the inside and outside. We're just 2 and a half hours south of him and we've got the heat on but I'm still running around in a hoodie lol.

  14. Sounds like a busy week. I hope your job hunting goes well. I will possibly be looking myself in January so feel your pain in advance. There is nothing worse than application forms.

    1. Hamsters (especially the boys) are great pets. I think they're amazing and mine have all had such different personalities (Alfie and Peeper are my 14th and 15th hamsters). The males tend to be the most easy going.
