The Sunday Post #68

I hope everyone had a good week! We had a really busy one what with Dad's PSWs coming everyday and having appointments at the doctors in the middle of snows storms. Not fun when someone is wheelchair bound I tell ya. Next week is also shaping up to be a busy one, but at least today I'll be doing something fun for myself with Mr. Turning the Pages. Today is Landmade which is a vendor showcase feature natural local ontario yarn, and fibre at a hotel in Toronto's west end so it will be an early morning for us. Also, today is a very special day for a certain member of the family:

Today is Spartan's second gotcha day from the Toronto Humane Society! When we got him he was malnourished, missing teeth, cowered in fear anytime someone raised their voice or something fell and only 22 pounds at 16 months old. Now he's 50 pounds and the happiest dog! Plus I forgot to mention in my last post that we added a new baby girl to the family back in December!

Anywho other than appointments I'm not sure what next week will bring but we're hoping for some good news on the Long Term Care front for my dad. I hope everyone has a great week!

Welcome to the first Sunday Post of 2018 and my first Sunday Post in over a year! As you may have guessed, I am in fact back blogging (after a 7 month hiatus) and couldn't be happier. If you want to know what has kept me away from all you wonderful bookish people there's a blog post I did that explains where I've been which I included below.
I have a busy week ahead of me with appointments and meetings almost everyday so I'm hoping to get some reading, crocheting and blogging time in.

Sunday Post #66

Hi All,

Hope everyone has had a good first two weeks of 2017! This is my first Sunday Post of the new year and I hope everything has started off well for everyone. Things are going well here and we're just plugging a long. Just a short post this week and next week be prepared for me to do a longer update. Also I'll be catching up on blog comments tomorrow! Sunday Post #65

Howdy Folks!

Busy week here prepping for Christmas but our tree STILL isn't up! We haven't even gone to the storage unit to excavate it, I do think that will be this week though. Not to worry about us not having much tree time. Our tree stayed up until February 3rd last year. Anywho. Not a whole lot of reading done, and not a whole lot of reviews (just the one) but whatever. I'm cool with that. Managed to send some photos of the family and I to my Aunt in Ireland (no internet no computer no cell phone) and she hasn't seen pictures of us all in 8 years (basically the last time I had photos done in high school). So I'm hoping they reach her by Christmas. Also still waiting on the dog's pictures with Santa to be e-mailed to us so I can share them (next week). However the dog rescue that played a part in his journey getting him to us has started a GoFundMe account and I know with the holidays not everyone can give but could you amazing people do me a favour and like their Facebook page and share the GoFundMe campaign on your Facebook and Twitter pages please? For the love of animals pass it on! For those who don't know Spartan came to us by way of the Toronto Humane Society by way of Northern Reach. Northern Reach is a network of volunteers, drivers, pilots, foster homes etc that work to bring dogs (1,000 in 2015 and 1 very special one (among many) in January 2016). They help locate, and arrange for dogs from Northern Reserves who are strays, abandoned or owner surrendered to find homes through rescues in Southern Ontario (Toronto, Barrie etc.) and find homes. He was one such dog that they rescued. He had to be flown down from his particular reserve (North Spirit Lake, Ontario) if you care to google to Thunder Bay, Ontario a trip of some 530km or 329 miles to my imperial minded readers and then driven from Thunder Bay to Toronto all in just 2 weeks.

When we adopted him from the Toronto Humane Society in January he was only 25 pounds, had just been neutered the day before and had 4 teeth removed and had only been on the adoption floor for 10 minutes before we picked each other. He's come through a lot and was obviously beaten before we had him, Now he's living the doggy dream with all the treats, love and cats he can handle. Basically I'm just asking for help to share this message. Surely a tweet isn't too much? This prevents dogs like our little weirdo from being subjected to culls, or starving to death due to owners who can't or won't care for them. Well...that's my PSA for the week. I will keep sharing their campaign on the blog because I truly believe in what they're doing and I hope, that a few of you will help spread the word.

Sunday Post #64

Howdy Folks!

How was everyone's first 3 days of December?
No news on the job front, but I am going to be applying to a ton of postings this week. This past week was a crazy one. Last Sunday we ended up having to go up to the family cottage in Northern Ontario for the day to help my elderly father winterize the place for the winter. Then we had to drive back down. Then on Wednesday Mr. Turning the Pages's mom had her second knee replacement and she got home yesterday. She's in pain but doing well. Yesterday we also went to a library sale at one of the biggest branches of the library system and I was able to score a TON of books that were brand new and uncirculated to give as gifts. We also had a special guest on the blog this week on Thursday! Mr. Turning the Pages did a review which you can find linked below. Have a gander and let him know what you think. I think he'll be on the blog more often. Last week was a busy reading month. I read 20 books and I also did 34 blog posts. I'm hoping to do more of both this month.

Next week is going to be busy as well. I have a ton of crafting, cleaning and gift shopping to do and the 7th is the 2nd anniversary of losing my mother so it's a sad week too. However, later today we're taking out dog to the Toronto Humane Society (where we adopted him from in February) to have his pictures taken with Santa! We get three prints for $15 and the money goes back to the Humane Society which we're so happy about. So next week I'll be sure to post them!
