Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine and is where we can talk about books we are looking forward to being released!
Here are my picks for the week:
Summary:
Richly-imagined fantasy romance from the author of Princess and the Hound, a tale of two princesses--one with magic, one with none--who dare seek love in a world where real choice can never be theirs. For fans of Megan Whalen Turner, Catherine Fisher, and Cassandra Clare.
Ailsbet loves nothing more than music; tall and red-haired, she's impatient with the artifice and ceremony of her father's court. Marissa adores the world of her island home and feels she has much to offer when she finally inherits the throne from her wise, good-tempered father. The trouble is that neither princess has the power--or the magic--to rule alone, and if the kingdoms can be united, which princess will end up ruling the joint land? For both, the only goal would seem to be a strategic marriage to a man who can bring his own brand of power to the throne. But will either girl be able to marry for love? And can either of these two princesses, rivals though they have never met, afford to let the other live?

Why I'm Waiting:
I've been meaning to give this author a try for years now and I'm planning on reading this one as soon as it comes out hopefully I'll have read other books by the author by the time this one comes out but if not then this looks like a good book to start with.
Summary:
In this sequel to OF POSEIDON, Emma has just learned that her mother is a long-lost Poseidon princess, and now struggles with an identity crisis: As a Half-Breed, she’s a freak in the human world and an abomination in the Syrena realm below. Syrena law states that all Half- Breeds should be put to death.
As if that’s not bad enough, her mother’s reappearance among the Syrena turns the two kingdoms—Poseidon and Triton—against one another. Which leaves Emma with a decision to make: Should she comply with Galen’s request to keep herself safe and just hope for the best? Or should she risk it all and reveal herself—and her Gift—to save a people she’s never known?

Why I'm Waiting:
I wasn't a big fan of the first book Of Poseidon in fact I only gave it a gave it a grudging 2 stars when I reviewed it but I have high hopes that the author will have loosened up her writing style and I want to see where this book goes.
What are YOU waiting for this Wednesday?
I've seen The Rose Throne around and I"m unsure on what I think of it. I'm rather intrigued but it's sort of subdued. I think it's great that you are giving Banks' series another go even though you didn't enjoy the first one all that much.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm giving it a try too! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI'm waiting for both these books too! I think I requested The Rose Thorn from Netgalley a few days ago :)
ReplyDeleteWaiting on Wednesday
Reivew: The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight
I was going to request it since I'm on Edgemont's Auto Approve list but the Kindle has been acting up so I think I'll wait to borrow it from the library.
DeleteI hope you get it!
O0o0 I didn't know OF POSEIDON had a sequel! I hope you like it when it's out! I'm now also looking forward to it :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading!

You're welcome! Thanks for stopping by Jenea!
DeleteI love the look of your first choice - The Rose Throne- love fairytales brought to life. I think I will pass on the 2nd book though.
ReplyDeleteHere's my WoW
I came close to passing on the second book too but I'm hoping the author handles the writing of the second book better than the way she did with the first one.
DeleteI have an ARC of "Of Triton". I enjoyed the first book in the series, but didn't get around to this one yet. Great choices!
ReplyDeleteVisit my WOW post.
