Waiting on Wednesday #45

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine and is where we can talk about books we are looking forward to being released!

Here are my picks for the week:

The Firebird

Summary:

Whoever dares to seek the Firebird may find the journey — and its ending — unexpected.

Nicola Marter was born with a gift. When she touches an object, she sometimes sees images; glimpses of those who have owned it before. It’s never been a gift she wants, and she keeps it a secret from most people, including her practical boss Sebastian, one of London’s premier dealers in Russian art.

But when a woman offers Sebastian a small wooden carving for sale, claiming it belonged to Russia’s first Empress Catherine, it’s a problem. There’s no proof. Sebastian believes that the plain carving — known as “The Firebird” — is worthless. But Nicola’s held it, and she knows the woman is telling the truth, and is in desperate need of the money the sale of the heirloom could bring.

Compelled to help, Nicola turns to a man she once left, and still loves: Rob McMorran, whose own psychic gifts are far greater than hers. With Rob to help her “see” the past, she follows a young girl named Anna from Scotland to Belgium and on into Russia.

There, in St. Petersburg — the once-glittering capital of Peter the Great’s Russia — Nicola and Rob unearth a tale of love and sacrifice, of courage and redemption…an old story that seems personal and small, perhaps, against the greater backdrops of the Jacobite and Russian courts, but one that will forever change their lives.

Length: 500 pages (Hardcover)
Expected Publication Date: January 28th 2013 by Allison & Busby

Why I'm Waiting:

I own a couple of this authors books and have yet to read them but this one looks absolutely fantastic plus it's set in Russian! It has a beautiful cover and it sounds amazing.

Paris: The Novel

Summary:

From the grand master of the historical novel comes a dazzling epic portrait of Paris that leaps through centuries as it weaves the tales of families whose fates are forever entwined with the City of Lights. As he did so brilliantly in London: The Novel and New York:
The Novel, Edward Rutherfurd brings to life the most magical city in the world: Paris.
This breathtaking multigenerational saga takes readers on a journey through thousands of years of glorious Parisian history.

Length: 528 pages (Hardcover)
Expected Publication Date: April 16th 2013 by Doubleday

Why I'm Waiting:

Two years ago I began reading Sarum by Edward Rutherfurd and I loved it! He is a master of historical fiction. While I still have to go back and finally finish  Sarum I am eagerly anticipating his new novel about Paris. So far he has released novels about England, Ireland and Russia and I have no doubt that his tale surrounding the development of Paris will be an amazing read.

Now, what are YOU waiting for this Wednesday?
