Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine and is where we can talk about books we are looking forward to being released!
Here are my picks for the week:
Summary:
The court of Henry VIII is rife with intrigue, rivalries and romance - and none are better placed to understand this than the women at its heart.
Katherine Parr, widowed for the second time aged thirty-one, is obliged to return to court but, suspicious of the ageing king and those who surround him, she does so with reluctance. Nevertheless, when she finds herself caught up in a passionate affair with the dashing and seductive Thomas Seymour, she believes she might finally be able to marry for love. But her presence at court has attracted the attentions of another . . .
Captivated by her honesty and intelligence, Henry Tudor has his own plans for Katherine and no one is in the position to refuse a proposal from the king. So with her charismatic lover dispatched to the continent, Katherine must accept the hand of the ailing egotistical monarch and become Henry's sixth wife - and yet she has still not quite given up on love.

Why I'm Waiting:
I love historical fiction, especially novels set in this particular time in history.
What really got me though was the cover. I love the contrast and it's really eye catching.
I can't wait to read this one!
Summary:
Sixteen-year-old Dusty Everhart breaks into houses late at night, but not because she’s a criminal. No, she’s a Nightmare.
Literally.
Being the only Nightmare at Arkwell Academy, a boarding school for magickind, and living in the shadow of her mother’s infamy, is hard enough. But when Dusty sneaks into Eli Booker’s house, things get a whole lot more complicated. He’s hot, which means sitting on his chest and invading his dreams couldn’t get much more embarrassing. But it does. Eli is dreaming of a murder.
Then Eli's dream comes true.
Now Dusty has to follow the clues—both within Eli’s dreams and out of them—to stop the killer before more people turn up dead. And before the killer learns what she’s up to and marks her as the next target.

Why I'm Waiting:
I really, really like the cover of this one and the plot surprisingly interests me. Generally I'm not a fan of these types of YA books (seriously if it isn't Harry Potter I hate books set in schools). But this one may have some promise.

ReplyDeleteSuper excited for The Nightmare Affair! Reminds me of Sabine from the Soul Screamers. An interesting paranormal creature.
ReplyDeleteMy WOW
I agree w/you on the whole school themed books, every time I read one it always reminds me of HP, and then I do the whole comparison thing in my mind, and they usually end up failing :/ But, maybe I will give Nightmare a try, although I'm still on the fence.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for The Nightmare Affair either.
ReplyDeleteI'm dying to read THE NIGHTMARE AFFAIR (I think it's even available for request on NetGalley), but THE QUEEN'S GAMBIT sounds really awesome, too - thanks for sharing! :)

The Queen's Gambit sounds good to me.
ReplyDeleteI always love reading about the wives of King Henry VIII and all the drama involved! The Queen's Gambit sounds like another good read! (I'm a big historical fiction fan too).
