Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!
This week's Top Ten List is:
Top Ten Books Written In The Past 10 Years That I Hope People Are Still Reading In 30 Years
I don't know about you but this question is hard for me to just give a top ten list because there are so many books I hope people are reading 30 years down the road so I'm going to pick some of my favourites just because I loved them so much.
The List (In no particular order)
1.
(The whole series)
I love this series and I really hope that people are still reading it 30 years from now because of how cozy they are.
2.
(The whole series)
This series is awesome. I love it and I fully intend on keeping my copies as long as I can. Who knows, maybe I'll still be re-reading them in 30 years.
3.
(The whole series)
I love this series, I really, really do. Robyn Carr in my opinion writes the best contemporary romances with just enough heat to make me love them. Everytime I read one of her books I feel like I'm coming home to old friends and family.
4.
960 pages.
The longest book I've read to date. This book was absolutely PHENOMENAL! I loved the historical fiction part of the novel and the fact that there was a monster killing people just made it even more fantastic to me. (I'm kind of a dark person believe it or not). I really hope people are re-reading this one.
5.
Disturbing, yet beautifully written. That's how I would best describe this book. Though the topic is taboo I think it should go down in the history books as one that stays popular.
6.
This was a great read and one that well and truly inspired me. I hope more people read it now and in the future.
7.
A great debut novel by a fellow Canadian. The story is hard to read for some but well worth it.
8.
One that illustrates how fortunate those of us who live in the "West" are. This book broke my heart and inspired me.
9.
This book ripped me apart, and the pain the women and the one man who chose to recount his experience during the 1994 genocide of Rwanda was sharp and deep. I'm not afraid to say that I bawled my eyes out for these people...I hope people still read this book 30 years from now. The atrocities of the past musn't ever be forgotten lest they're likely to occur again.
10.
This was an amazing work of historical fiction because it is also based on fact. This is probably one of my favourite books ever in the genre.
What are YOUR Top Ten books published in the last 10 years that YOU want people to still be reading in 30 years?
I haven't actually read ANY of your books (shameful, huh?) but your descriptions of several of them have me intrigued!

ReplyDeleteThank you for this post. I will keep an eye out for some of the books you mentioned.
ReplyDeleteI read one by Dan Simmons which was also very long, but I was really impressed by the depth of his story and characters(not the one on your list, but will definitely add this title for future).
